Description:

PLEASE READ: Shown are the various items essential to last ditch outdoor survival. Description and uses of items. I've been getting some comments about adding more firelighting gear. What I have in this kit is more than enough. Many people go out with much less. There are many primitive ways of lighting fires that I can use. Please Do Not Add Suggestions For Items I Already Keep In this Kit. I have Made And, Used Many Kits, And Combinations To Make This One. Unlike Many Of The Other Kits On YT, I Use The Items Frequently In The Outdoors. I Know Exactly What I Need For My Purposes. Please Remember- This Is A Last Ditch Kit, I Will Always Have Other Primary Gear With Me When I Venture Out. Thanks For Understanding. :) Having a kit like this is a must when exploring the great outdoors. This is an updated video(old vid deleted)..

Description:

PART 1 of 5: A complete series of videos by Nutnfancy and my friend chronicling firemaking in cold and snowy conditions using backpacking equipment only. The series shows the scenery, adventure, survival philosophy, gear observations, our standard joking around, and the good times with long time friend BuggetNuster (YouTube name) and Allie the Mountain Dog. We hiked into the snowy and cold Rocky Mountain bivouac location I had chosen earlier for my Wilderness Lean-To series of videos. A few shelter mods are discussed and shown but the focus of these vids is the making of the fire. I used few edits in the video making because I needed to demonstrate the work needed to create a sustainable fire in these conditions. I have found no shortcuts in the wood preparation for wilderness fire making. Several blades including the Ontario RTAK II, Ontario RAT-7, and KaBar Heavy Bowie are used to strip limbs and baton the logs into burnable pieces with the advantageous sharp edges. They performed exceptionally well in the outing and withstood some real tough use in 15

Description:

Tuesdays @ 10pm E/P on Discovery New to The Colony? Watch how the Colonists build back: dsc.discovery.com What would you do in the wake of a global catastrophe? How would you find food? Water? Shelter? The Colony is a controlled experiment to see exactly what it would take to survive and rebuild under these circumstances. For 10 weeks, a group of 10 volunteers, whose backgrounds and expertise represent a cross-section of modern society, are isolated in an urban environment outside Los Angeles and tasked with creating a livable society. With no electricity from the grid, no running water and no communication with the outside world, all the volunteers have to work with are their skills and whatever tools and supplies they can scavenge from their surroundings. Experts from the fields of homeland security, engineering and psychology have helped design the world of The Colony to reflect elements from both real-life disasters and models of what the future could look like after a global viral outbreak. Over the course of the 10-week experiment, the Colonists must work together to build the necessities of survival, such as a water-filtration system, a battery bank that powered their electricity, a solar cooker, a shower system and a greenhouse and even some niceties (a coffee maker!). Tune in Tuesdays at 10 pm ET/PT to see who thrives and who fails to survive.

Description:

How can a holiday suddenly turn into a horrific nine-day struggle for survival? Told through interviews and dramatic reconstructions, follow the story of the San Francisco family, the Kims, whose lives were endangered by something as simple as bad navigation. In November 2006, Kati Kim, her husband James and their children, four-year-old Penelope and seven-month-old Sabine, were returning from a winter break when they took a wrong turn on a mountain road. Making the small, but catastrophic, decision to find an alternative route, this young family were quickly plunged into danger. With snow beginning to fall, they soon found themselves driving along a remote logging road deep into the frozen wilderness. Completely lost, with no mobile phone coverage and very little food, the lives of the Kims were now hanging in the balance. After seven days in freezing conditions and the children beginning to starve, James braved the bear-infested wilderness alone in search of help. Meanwhile, a massive search-and-rescue effort was under way...but would the family be rescued in time?

Description:

Has the United States government been building large scale underground cities for 2012 holocaust survivors? Many believe a cataclysmic event will result in great devastation across the face of the planet. Will survival of the human race depend on the chosen few taking refuge in these subterranean shelters located deep beneath the surface of the Earth? How much of the TRILLIONS of dollars of "bailout" money (some of which the government conveniently tells us us is "lost") is being directed to the black budget for final completion of their construction? According to former government engineer Phil Schneider, at least 129 of these underground cities have been built over the last 50 to 60 years. In this video Mr. Schneider describes construction of the deep underground military bases which are located across the United States. He also recounts how he was one of only three people to survive the 1979 shootout between subterranean aliens and US military and intelligence forces at the deep underground military base in Dulce, NM. This May 1995 lecture is one of only a few given by Mr. Schneider before his untimely death. Openly acknowledging that the dissemination of this information constituted both a breach of his security oaths and a major violation of federal law, he speculated as to how long he might be allowed to continue speaking out in this manner. The unfortunate answer to his speculation came seven months after the taping of this video. Phil Schneider was found dead in ...

Where Will You Be in 2012?

Skywatch Media Newsflash for March 1, 2011:
In addition to previous reports that governments are accelerating preparedness plans across the globe, Russia Today reports that 5000 new bomb shelters are being constructed in the capitol city of Moscow.

In 2006 the European Union rapidly drew up and deployed plans to build a "Doomsday Seed Vault" to store millions of seeds from countries around the world in case of a catastrophic event. Previous reports suggest that the US Government Is Preparing For Unlikely Events Like War, Catastrophic Collapse of Society, and Even Asteroids.

Among the preparations, the US government, like Russia, is building underground bunkers and military bases. The U.S. is reportedly building these bunkers so rapidly, and on such a large scale, that private contractors are unable to acquire materials to build bunkers for individual clients.

In recent years we've also learned that the US government is one of, if not the largest buyer of survival foods like freeze dried foods and MRE's for emergency preparedness deployment. We've also recently learned that Department of Homeland Security has committed to distributing supplies across 15 regional emergency supply warehouses.

Description:

Keith aka Skeeter is living totally off the grid. Starting with a raw plot of land, he built his house from scratch, dug a well, created a solar power system and is completely responsible for all his waste. Keith is a good example of someone who got tired of paying utilities and mortgages to live on earth. He took matters into his own hands and decided to be as independent as possible. Deciding to live out in the wilderness is one way to go off the grid. We'll be exploring other ways of being independent in urban environments in some of our next posts. Thanks Keith!

Description:

Mylar bags need a good amount of heat, usually from grid powered sealing equipment, but, in the bush, retreats, this equipment is not available. Sometimes mylar bags may need to be resealed if the contents are not fully consumed ie, MRE packs, first aid consumables and some instruments, documents and some battery powered electronic gear to name a few. The same concept can be applied to urban survival if the grid powered sealing equipment fails due to grid power failure. It has been a concern to me, how to reseal these bags, as they are very versatile, rugged and reusable.

Description:

Review of my brand new Marbles Outdoors firefighter's survival axe. At $16.99 this is a fantastic piece of survival gear for shtf or bushcraft adventures. Although this is more of a machete than an axe or hawk, it is still nonetheless a very impressive piece of budget gear. I can't wait to put this thing to the test. It appears to be a very good option for wilderness or urban survival or part of your bug out bag. This thing is a knife, machete, axe, hatchet, and tomahawk all rolled into one. This is definite budget utility.

Thanks very much for watching. Blurb from the first 2 vids is below These are the only 6 possessions anyone really needs and it clears your head to just keep that in mind. They also require very little skill to use. The idea harks back to how people would have traveled by foot a hundred yeas ago and before. I've been trekking for years and refining my kit and woke up this morning thinking about this Acronym, so made a couple vids about my gear which was hard because I've never tried it and I'm not an expert at all (At this or at making videos). All items are picked to be bomb-proof and multi use and can potentially work for hill walkers, bushcraft, people surviving disasters, societal collapse, combat survival being surrounded by zombies or finding yourself stranded or lost or climbers, backpackers or hunters trapped or injured where food, water, power, transport and fuel are unavailable and where you need to be able to be flexible and to move around and travel ...

Description:

Here are my thoughts on the water bottle in Cody Lundin's boon 98.6 Degrees: The Art of Keeping Your Ass Alive!. About the book: www.amazon.com A destined underground classic, 98.6: The Art of Keeping Your Ass Alive is a nonstop thrill ride, jam-packed with commonsense modern survival skills for the backcountry, the backyard, or the highway. Author Cody Lundin, founder and director of the nationally recognized Aboriginal Living Skills School, shares his own brand of wilderness wisdom based on the unique principle of keeping the body's core temperature at a lively 98.6 degrees. In his no-nonsense and informative style-paired with outrageously hip visuals-Cody stresses that a human can live without food for weeks, and without water for several days. But if the body's core temperature dips much below or above the 98.6-degree mark, a person can literally die within hours. It is a concept that many don't take seriously or even consider, but knowing what to do to maintain a safe core temperature when visiting the great outdoors could save your life. Delivered with wit, rebellious humor, and plenty of backcountry expertise, 98.6: The Art of Keeping Your Ass Alive is destined to not only entertain but to empower the reader with practical advice, information, and detailed instructions of how to create an effective modern-day survival kit using simple, easy-to-find items.

Description:

What type of emergency or survival foods you want to stockpile depends a lot on what kind of preparedness plan you have in mind. If you have a rural retreat somewhere and are stocking it with not only food and water, but also have an alternative source of energy available there, you will be able to get pretty creative with your food storage supply. However, if you are only thinking basic urban survival, and simply want to have something on hand to get you through a few days or weeks while you decide what your next plan of action is then you are more limited to what you may want to store up for yourself. Especially if you do not have a back-up energy plan in mind. Without the means to cook your food and the possibility of having to use your water sparingly, will make a huge difference in what you will able to do with food preparation. We highly recommend storing more than just survival food packages. Essentials such as first aid kits, safe drinking water, etc, are just as, if not more important than food as you can go a long time without food, if you have to, but without proper medical assistance or water, a person can die quickly in crisis events. At the time of this writing (7/09) there is no immediate panic on food storage units. That could change overnight, believe me! When the swine flu threat happened, many of our online suppliers of food units, especially the freeze dried foods, went to back-order status within a few days. Imagine having to wait for ...

The edges were very sharp and it was great at splitting and batoning wood. This is definitely the machete / axe combo that I would want with me in a wilderness survival situation. Note. If you are squeemish dont watch this video as there is some cursing and some blood as I had a bit of an accident with this thing.

Description:

Please see my first vid for a fuller explanation of the six essential items. The idea is to decrease dependency on fallible equipment and consumerism and to go for easy to find super tough kit items and up your skills or try new things to see what suit you. I really appreciate you watching. The blurb from the first video is below These are the only 6 possessions anyone really needs and it clears your head to just keep that in mind. They also require very little skill to use. The idea harks back to how people would have traveled by foot a hundred yeas ago and before.
Description:

Australia hoodlum, having travelled to 52 countries, finally goes to Africa. After 3 weeks in each of Addis Ababa and Freetown, he lands in Monrovia with no guidebook, no bookings, no contacts, no travel insurance, only days after the first round of the Presidential Elections of October 2011. He takes a moto taxi one morning and asks the owner if he can hire his bike. The owner takes him straight to his house in Mamba Point, introduces him to his wife and children, and hands over the bike for the remainder of his 16 day stay. He proceeds to explore every alley in every neighbourhood from Congo Town to West Point, whilst shaking off Malaria. He befriends the daughter of one of the Presidential candidates, finds himself chatting with him in his home office, then bikes to the daughter's village, and cradles on his lap her 8 year old son. He discovers that boy's other grandfather happens to also be a Presidential candidate, a man who came 3rd the previous week, a former warlord called Prince Johnson. He later learns Johnson is regarded as one of the most dangerous men on Earth in recent decades, a man credited with torturing in 1990 then-President Samuel Doe, then eating him, triggering a period of civil war that destroyed the country. He feels a nation just getting to it's feet only 7 years since the end of almost two decades of civil war, riding on the optimism of a democratically elected female President and recent Nobel Prize winner about to enter her second term. It's a ...
